To what extent can the life those actors lived be similar to one of the people living under the Soviet Union?
Svetlana Boym expresses that the communal flat was implemented all over USSR town to bring the Revolution in people’s everyday life (1994). The communal flat can, therefore, be a good place for understanding the life of people under the former Soviet Union, and so I believe looking at how people lived in their reconstructed communal flat, can offer a proper analysis of the relation between DAU and real life in the USSR. In the footage, a lot of scenes took place in the communal flat, confirming the importance of it in the life of citizens. There were scenes of people around a table altogether, talking, scenes of women cooking in the kitchen, scenes where people were drinking and chatting. All of those aspects present a reality of life of Soviet life under Stalin government.
The life of the actors in the DAU town appears to map the different ethnographic description of the communal flat.
